To have an unclean conscience means one is self-righteous, PERIOD. For the self-righteous, it is rigged against them; they can’t win, ever. For the self-righteous, all they have going for them is a conscience, which is unclean and stands condemned, which is not good. Their conscience is either filled with condemnation, shame, and guilt, or it's seared, hardened, and dead. Those with an unclean conscience, they only know bad, condemnation, evil, and rottenness. If men reject Grace outright, over and over again, their hearts become hardened, and their conscience is seared.

“by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron,” 1 Timothy 4:2

To know “good and evil” is to be constantly aware of sin. It’s what we call a “sin conscience’, where there’s no hope for relief. But for the BELIEVER, we know our conscience has been cleaned by Jesus.

“For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” Romans 8:15

Jesus is our ACCEPTED High Priest, so we KNOW FOR CERTAIN THAT WE ARE CLEAN now and forever. We are continually cleaned by His Blood AND continually washed by the word of God. Furthermore, we are the revealed sons and daughters of God. We are not servants; we are SONS, and we cry out within our hearts, ABBA, Father! The Good News of God

“Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” Galatians 4:6

For the BELIEVER, our dreams, hopes, and desires are birthed in our hearts from our imaginations. And, we know God is always with us. He is in our dreams, hopes, and desires. As a matter of fact, our Heavenly Father is the God of all dreams, hopes, and desires.

“After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.” 1 Peter 5:10

Unfortunately, all dreams, hopes, and desires are stillborn and dead in an unsanctified unclean conscience. To know good and evil IS to have a sin-filled conscience. To know anything other than Jesus crucified and resurrected is to know GOOD and EVIL.

“keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith.” 1 Timothy 1:19

Religious spirits attack us in our conscience. An evil spirit tricked Adam and Eve and the consequence of the trick is an unclean conscience. The truth is ALL evil spirits attack our conscience, it’s our weakness, but the RELIGIOUS spirits are vicious and dominate in the realm of SELF. Therefore, we are either conscious of Jesus' love for us (cross) and His finished work, or we are conscious of ourselves and our own efforts and our SIN; our own dead works. Jesus gives life and life abundantly, and apart from Christ we can do nothing.

“Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, because the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have had consciousness of sins?” Hebrews 10:2

Grace is RIGHT BELIEVING. Jesus came to restore GRACE and TRUTH, which is RIGHT BELIEVING.

“Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16

Our TWO choices IN THIS LIFE are between receiving the Grace of God (and clean conscience), and/or, Self-righteousness leading to eternal death. Our choices are between life and death; a cleanThe Good News of God conscience or an unclean conscience.

“For not knowing about God’s righteousness and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.” Romans 10:3

There is no unclean conscience in Heaven; there is no need for it. All our weaknesses come from the fact we have an unclean conscience. For those IN CHRIST, by Grace we have received a cleansed conscience; it’s perpetually cleaned with God’s love in our hearts as witnessed by HOLY Spirit. Therefore, no more consequences of sin, no more condemnation, shame, or guilt.

“In view of this, I also do my best to maintain always a blameless conscience both before God and before men.” Acts 24:16 NASB1995

Our conscience is not our heart, and it is not our imagination. It's separate. The non-believer’s unclean conscience is dominated by fear, shame, guilt, and condemnation, while the BELIEVER’S conscience IS CLEAN and always filled with the AWARENESS OF ABBA’s LOVE.
